Graham Davis will present "Viajes", his first major exhibition in Spain from Saturday December 13, 2008 until Saturday January 31, 2009. Held under the distinguished patronage of the Ayuntamiento of Binissalem in Mallorca, the exhibition, to be mounted in the historic Can Gelabert Gallery, opens with a special reception on December 13, at 8:00 pm. A special feature of this event will be the simultaneous launch of the catalogue "Viajes", chronicling Davis' recent travels worldwide. Born in Kent, England in 1944 and educated at Maidstone and Chelsea Schools of Art, Graham Davis has lived in Jamaica since 1970, has exhibited widely there and abroad, is represented in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Jamaica and is considered one of the most important artists in the Caribbean region. Davis has been experimenting recently with the use of bolder images and stronger colours, and has been enthusiastically applying this treatment to his favourite subjects - aged objects and buildings - as well as nature. Graham Davis currently divides his time between the islands of Jamaica and Mallorca.
