The directors of Mutual Gallery are pleased to announce their first-ever exhibition of paintings by Graham Davis, from Thursday April 10 to Wednesday May 8, 2008. A special reception will be held on Thursday April 10 at 6:00 pm during which opening remarks will be made by distinguished art critic, educator and dean at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Keith Morrison. Born in Kent in 1944 and educated at Maidstone and Chelsea Schools of Art, Graham Davis has lived in Jamaica since 1970, has exhibited widely there and abroad, is represented in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Jamaica and is considered one of the most important artists in the Caribbean region. Davis has been experimenting recently with the use of bolder images and stronger colours, and has been enthusiastically applying this treatment to his favourite subjects - aged objects and buildings, as well as nature. For further information, please contact Gilou Bauer or Tina Malcolm at 929 4302 or Graham Davis at 899 1959.
